Abstract
The author focuses on the life of professor František Smetánka after 1945. Smetánka was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Hradec Králové from 1946-1948 and emigrated to Great Britain after the communist revolution in Czechoslovakia in 1948.
The article is based on work with archived texts and on an interview with Dr. B.
R. Bradbrook, Smetánka´s niece.
The article underlines Smetánka´s organization and personal qualities.
