Perioperative Hyperfractionated High-Dose rate Brachytherapy for the treatment of Soft Tissue Sarcomas: Multicentric Experience

Abstrakt

Retrospective study on 45 patients with soft tissue sarcomas treated in 4 institutions with perioperative hyperfractionated high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR BT) between 1998 - 2007. The 5 year local control was 100% in patients treated for primary tumor and 64 % in patients treated for tumor recurrence.

Hyperfractionated HDR BT allows application of high doses of radiation in the tumor bed with high local control and acceptable risk of complications.
