The aim of the prospective randomized trial is to compare the functional and clinical results of two operation methods in treatment of 2- and 3-particle fractures of the proximal humerus. Patients are randomized by envelope method and divided in two groups.
In the first group the patients are operated on by closed or eventually interference reposition and intramedullar osteosynthesis with bundle of Kirschner´s Aires - Zifko method, in the socond one by open reposition and internal fixation (ORIF) with Philos locking compression plate (Synthes, Switzerland). The final functional status is evaluated by Constant-Murley test (CM).
After analysis of current data using pair t-test there were found no statistically significant differences neither in functional results of both methods nor in percent of complications. We found significant differences in the length of operation time (60 vs. 105 min.) and in time to function stabilization (18 vs. 24 weeks).
