Abstract

Human prominin-1 (CD133) is defined by the widely used mAb AC133 it is expressed by various stem cells originating from diverse sources. In this study, we reinvestigated its expression profile using a novel mAb80B258 generated against the prominin-1 polypeptide.

Remarkably our data reveal that its overall expression is beyond the rare primitive cells, and it seems to be a general marker of the apical membrane of glandular epithelia.
