Orthodontics is that branch of dentistry concerned with facial growth, with development of the dentition and occlusion, and with the diagnosis, interception and treatment of occlusal anomalies. The aim of this textbook is to provide the information for students of undergraduate dentistry.
It has been estimated that approximately 66 per cent of 12 years old require some form of orthodontic intervention, and around 33 per cent need complex treatment.
