Abstract

In the present study we investigated the influence of extracellular matrix components (fibrin and collagen gel) on gene expression in rat liver myofibroblasts (MFB). cDNA array analysis showed changes in the expression of a number genes in MFB cultivated in gels when compared to MFB cultivated on plastic. The results were confirmed by rt RT-PCR.

We can conclude that both fibrin and collagen type I influenced the expression of some genes involved in connective tissues remodelling.
