Abstract

Ectopic beats triggering atrial fibrillation, the most frequent atrial arrhythmia, are predominantly localized in pulmonary veins - in extensions of left atrial myocardium on pulmonary veins, so called myocardial sleeves of pulmonary veins. The relationship between myocardial sleeves and atrial fibrillation is the main topic of this article.
