New occurrences of hexactinellid sponges in the Barrandian area are presented. Despite their poor preservation, isolated hexactine and pectactine spicules of the hyalosponges indicate, that this invertebrate group was present also in the marine associations of the lower Jince Formation (Cambrian) and the Sarka Formation (Darriwilian, Ordovician).
These findings contribute to our knowledge of invertebrate diversity in the Cambrian and Ordovician seas of the Pribram-Jince and Prague basins, respectively.
