Immunophenotypisation of foetal human hepatocytes of WRL 68 cell line: ABC transporters and other hepatocyte markers

Abstract
In this article, there is described the immunophenotypisation of the foetal human hepatocytes of the WRL 68 cell line focused on ABC transporters cMOAT/MRP2 a P-glycoprotein, intermediate filaments cytokeratin 18 and pan-cytokeratin and plasma proteins albumin and alpha-fetoprotein. Expression of these markers was evaluated also in the foetal and adult rat and human liver tissue.
In conclusion, the antigenic profile of hepatocytes in vitro and in situ is closely similar and WRL 68 cell line is a suitable model for research of hepatocyte functions including studies of ABC transporters.
