Abstract

The aim of study was to assess metabolic changes in fat tissue before and after partial hepatectomy (PH) in 2 rat strains: Wistar rats (W-SLD) and Prague Hereditary Hypercholesterolemic Rats (PHHC-CH)using microdialysis. 18 rats were divided 1. W-SLD group was fed by standard diet, 2.

PHHC-CH group by cholesterol enriched diet for 29 days. Then partial hepatectomy was performed (PH).

Microdialysis probe was inserted into fat tissue repeatedly on days 1,14,26 and 29 (after PH). Serum leptin, corticosterone and microdialysate glucose, lactate and glycerol were determined.

Interstitial glucose in W-SLD decreased, while in PHHC-CH increased. Interstitial glycerol increased in both groups.

Interstitial lactate in W-SLD increased less than in PHHC-CH. Serum leptin increased in both groups, serum corticosterone concentrations increased in W-SLD but decreased in PHHC-CH.

We show differences in glucose metabolism on tissue level after PH between W-SLD and PHHC-CH rats, while triglyceride metabolism no.
