Abstrakt
In our hospital we started the TIPS in September 1992. Since than till the end of 2003 were performed more than 500 procedures.
TIPS placement in an effective means of lowering portal venous pressure. It can be placed in almost all patients who require portal decompression (patients with bleeding from esophageal varices and patients with refractory ascites).
The use of covered stents for de novo TIPS is highly recommended.
