The Reader of/in the Narrative Text

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2013

Abstract

The chapter of the book offers a complex analysis of the role of the reader constructed and assigned by the text. It contrasts such a role with the cognitive and personal dispositions of an empirical reader.

The key role is assigned to the distinction of the terms of meaning and sense. The meaning is defined as a result of the textual structure while the sense is interpreted as a contextual disposition determined by a distinctive reader.
