Constructivist teaching – adopting different problem-solving strategies: the case of one diagnostic problem

Abstract

The poster will show learning environments from the elementary school textbook by Hejný et al., with the focus on the squar paper environment. The textbook aims to develop the conceptual understanding of area and perimeter.

An experimental problem, linked to this topic, was given to pupils in the fourth year to investigate into the nature of problem-solving strategies. The poster will present some interesting strategies adopted by the pupils.
