Reduction of motion-related artefacts on CBCT scan

Abstract

The role of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in imaging of the oral and maxillofacial region is well known. One of the biggest problems remaining to be solved is the unwanted movement of the patient during the scanning procedure.

In the first part we discuss its influence on image quality. In the second part we present original method how to monitor patient movement and how to eliminate its negative influence on resolution of CBCT scan.
