Abstract
Utopian projects are traditionally understood as a part of protosociological thought. At the same time, there is a decline of importance of utopian thought and its public importance.
The question arises, whether the utopias belong to the past, or the forms of utopian thought just went through a substantial transformation. This is the basic frame of my text, along with the attempt to define the sociological concept of modern utopia.
Finally, I present a thesis that utopian thinking, however it has undergone a major transformation during the last century, is still an important phenomena in contemporary society.
