Abstract

The process of suburbanization has affected the development of suburban communities around Prague for nearly twenty years. The massive residential construction and migration of population to suburbs significantly affect not only physical, but also the social structure of these communities.

The reasons of residents dissatisfaction include for example daily way to work and school or lack of basic amenities. The key question is, if these negative aspects force residents of suburbs back to the cities and this migration flow becomes part of the process of reurbanisation.

This paper deals with the residential stability of residents of Prague´s suburbs. The important role plays the residential satisfaction with the quality of living, which is influenced by life-cycle stage of the respondents.

Among the factors that significantly affect residents to remain in the suburbs, include length of living in the suburb or previous type of housing. Paper also contains a theoretical introduction.
