Abstract
The paper outlines two possible approaches, that may be taken in the study of metaphor in the sociological context. By the "sociology of metaphor" I mean exploring the ways of interpretation of social reality by actors using shared metaphorical principles and templates. "Metaphors of sociology" opens up a field of analysis of the sociological discourse, which might be conceived as a diverse system of elaborate metaphors of society (more or less follow-up to the lay "sociological metaphors") with its own specificity and history.
