Brief view of changes in burial ceremony in selected areas of southern Bohemia in last decades

Abstract

The research points changes in burial ceremony in last decades in the Czech Republic. The research focus on areas of Southern Bohemia and new phenomenon - burials without ceremony.

In Europe, it is new and unique phenomenon. There is no definition of burial without ceremony, therefore no official statistics yet.

Main data were obtained from chief of Society of funeral business in Czech Republic, from chief of Funeral office of Prague and from central secretary of Association of fellows of cremation. Rest of data were obtained from church registers of city Volyně, Malenice, Hoštice u Volyně in collaboration with stock registrar of Strakonice vicarate.
