Abstract
Within a very short time the Faculty of Theology University of South Bohemia has produced several publications that deal with the issue of charity and social work from the Christian perspective; this reviewed book is one. Dr.
Michal Opatrný invited several authorities from both abroad and Czech faculties with an aim to create a collective monograph that had so far been missing in the Czech Republic. Due to its international team of authors this book is bi-lingual (Czech and German), which is very unusual, but on the other hand very provident.
The publication attempts to explain the problem of charity work from theoretical and practical perspectives, to show it in its original context and enter in an interaction with social work.
