The autonomy of the Church in matters of employment as part of the protection of religious minorities

Abstract

The author explains that the autonomy of religious communities is part of religious freedom. However, collective rights may conflict with individual rights under the European Convention on Human Rights.

The Strasbourg Court has tried to apply the principle of proportionality but this approach has significantly weakend the concept of religious autonomy.
