Abstract

The book presents research findings from the final year of the project "Education in the area of national cultural identity" (NAKI DF11P01OVV025). This volume deals with contemporary art and its role in school education, relates to gallery and museum education settings in which encounters with art are mediated.

Eight chapters of the book introduce childrens'a art work and teachers'creative approaches in art education which is understood as a part of visual culture. Authors present worksheets and lesson plans as the basic elements of the programmes with all didactic supplements and materials including bibliography and other resources.

The programme is regularly followed up by pedagogical reflection. The core of every chapter is supplemented by authentic narratives of all who contributed to new knowledge, and often to a change of perspective of the research team.
