Authority as a means of securing common meaning of social relationships between teachers and pupils

Abstract

The paper deals with the conception of authority in the field of upbringing and education. Authority in school environment is its main focus, particularly a teacher as a person who gives authority and a pupil as a person who accepts authority.

The first part deals with the definition of the term “authority”. The core of the paper lies in questioning in which framework authority is looked upon as a means of securing common meaning of social relationships between teachers and pupils.
