Absence/Presence of a Literary Text in Textbooks of French Language

Abstract

The article deals with presence, position and employment of a literary text in textbooks of French language as a foreign language. First, we reflect on the conception of the literature and the amount of its employment in the development of methodical trends in foreign languages teaching, its role given by The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and The Framework Education Programme for Elementary and Grammar Schools.

Then the results of the chosen French textbooks analysis are presented whose aim was to observe the employment of literary texts into the context of the lessons, their connection with covered grammatical issues, practised competences and widened knowledge, further types of literary texts and the aims of their employment. The third part of the article is practical: the introduction of possibilities of working with a literary text in foreign language teaching.
