This little known and probably nidicolous species was described from the environs of Leipzig (Germany: Sachsen), based on six specimens collected from over 300 nests of the common hamster Cricetus cricetus (Linnaeus, 1758) (Rodentia: Cricetidae) and Mus sp. (Rodentia: Muridae) (Linke 1934). Currently, A. (A.) boehmei is recorded only from Austria and Germany (from Hessen, Sachsen-Anhalt and Sachsen) (Köhler & Klausnitzer 1998, Smetana 2004).

Recently, Ádám (2010) synonymized Atheta (Anopleta) tricholomatobia V. B.

Semenov, 2002 described from Moscow region (Russia) with A. (Atheta) boehmei, and provided an additional record of A. (A.) boehmei from Braşov in Romania. However, the synonymy was based only on published descriptions and should be confirmed (J.

Vogel, Görlitz, Germany, pers. comm. 2012). New species for the Czech Republic
