Abstract

The Russian adverbial participles contrary to Czech are language means with relatively high frequency. The analysis of the occurrence in the Czech-Russian subcorpora of the InterCorp ČNK illustrates that the most frequented equivalents of the Russian adverbial participles are the main clauses with the coordinating conjunction a or asyndetic clause.

The Russian imperfective adverbial participles do not always correspond to the Czech imperfective verb forms, however the imperfective forms make up the majority of the occurrences. Also the substantive equivalents have some aspectual quality.

The nonfinite verb forms have almost null occurrence. This confirms the most common occurrence of secondary predicative constructions in Russian and their equivalents of primary predication or nominalization in Czech.
