Bark beetles and their galleries: Well-known niches for little known fungi on the example of Geosmithia

Abstract

Oak bark beetle (Scolytus intricatus, Scolytidae, Coleoptera) and its galleries on oaks were studied with respect to the occurrence of microfungi. This niche was discovered as the primary habitat for Geosmithia fungi.
