A REPORT ON THE LORD’S MIRACLE (A STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF EX 14:1-31 OR POSITION OF THE LORD’S STATEMENT IN THE TEXT)

Publication at Hussite Theological Faculty |
2013

Abstract

The event (miracle) is a result of the Lord’s statement, with the recorded text becoming a celebration of the existential dimension of the Lord’s speech. It is because of this speech why the text was recorded, and it is this speech that gets the greatest attention.

The text structure resembles that of the Creator’s hymn (an advice of the Lord’s statement, quotation, repetition, and interpretation by the narrator). The purpose of the text is to confront the audience with the power of the Lord’s speech, which transforms into an event (action).
