“Crown of thorns” of Daphnia: An exceptional inducible defense discovered by DNA barcoding

Abstract

Article addendum to the PNAS paper on induction of crown of thorns in the Daphnia atkinsoni complex by Triops kairomones discusses the potential benefits of barcoding studies for ecological and evolutionary research, and adds information about induction of the crown in different size classes of Daphnia.
