Abstract
The paper deals with the reconstruction of the form and meaning of the Old Czech word hont, preserved only in the Latin-Czech vocabularies by Master Bartoloměj z Chlumce called Klaret. The conclusions are presented as a description of the formal and semantic development of this word within a source language (i. e. from the etymological point of view), within Slavic languages and Czech language from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, especially reflected by contemporary dictionaries.
The results of this analysis are also verified by a reference to a denoted non-lingual reality.
