Abstract

Authors summarize the history of Habsburg monuments in Czech lands (and especially in Prague), from the mausoleum of Ferdinand I. in Prague cathedral, continuing with baroque monuments and analyzing especially the works of 19th century, when modern stately figural monument appeared. The remarkable examples are: the monument of Franz I (1846) on the embankment in Prague, Habsburg statues in West-Bohemian Spas, the Prague monument of field marshal Radetzky (1858) with its expressive monarchical and dynastic symbolism, monuments of Joseph II in German speaking Bohemian territories and monuments of Franz Joseph.

Finally, the authors comment problems of deplacing of the monarchical symbols after 1918 and their occasional replacing during last years.
