Abstract

The objective of the project was to investigate the relationships among the aspects of phonetic description, acoustic characteristics of speech, and their functional impact in three parts of the description of Czech intonation. New findings on segmentation into stress units, on the influence of larger context on listeners’ decisions concerning stress-unit boundaries, and melodeme and description of the downtrends in Czech intonation lead to innovations in the description of Czech prosody.
