This videoprogram was created on the basis of recorded lectures and seminars of the Second Prague International Teacher-Training Conference on Teaching English to the Deaf. The Conference was primarily aimed at instruction of Czech hearing teachers who teach English to the Deaf.

English was therefore established the conference language. However, American and English lecturers also used ASL, BSL and their personal sign language interpreters.

The conference program was very rich and varied. Morning lectures and afternoon workshops and discussions embraced several main topics: general linguistic strategies for learning foreign languages, special methodological and psychological strategies applied in teaching the Deaf, practical strategies for teaching English writing and reading skills to the Deaf, basic information about the situation in deaf education and career opportunities of the Deaf in the Czech Republic, the USA and Great Britain. In the year 2005 this videoprogram, which includes also professional biographies of the conference lecturers, was distributed as an interesting teacher-training resource to all Czech special schools.

This was only possible thanks to the American project PEN-International of NTID at RIT (The Postsecondary Education Network-International), a multinational partnership of colleges and universities worldwide), in which the team of the Faculty of Arts LRC represents the Czech Republic. This project, aimed at gradual improving of the tertiary level of education of the Deaf worldwide, is generously sponsored by the Nippon Foundation.
