Abstract
The paper summarizes the results of the studies of the literary and other sources dealing with cultural and spiritual dvelopment in the period after September 30, 1938 and it confronts the clash of totalitarian and democratic tendencies. The author also analyses the situation in the Czech and German school system and pays attention to the situation at universities, too.
