Abstract

A study dealing with the Central-European (Germany, Austria, Hungary and Poland) beginnings of societies of laymen (mainly collectors) who kept the organisations aiming to create public art-museums. The author writes about the origin of the Society of Art-Friends in Prague (1796) in this context.
