Stone tables of the Early Dynastic Period and the Old Kingdom reconsidered

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2013

Abstract

The article collects the evidence on the occurrence of mostly rounded stone tables of the Early Dynastic period and Old Kingdom. The author interprets their shapes, ways of their usage, historical development and materials used.

New evidence on this kind of stone vessels found in the tomb AS 54 in Abusir serves the reconstruction of a so far unrecognised type.
