Screening for colorectal carcinoma has been launched in Czech Republic in the year 2000; in 2009 the programme has been modified due to unsatisfactory results. Apart from GPs, the screening programme has been expanded to include gynaecologists as well and apart from immunochemical tests (which are gradually replacing the guiac tests), a new screening variant has been introduced - a primary screening colonoscopy at the age of 55 years.
There have also been changes to the intervalsof the screening methods. Since the 2009 changes, there has been an increase in compliance of the Czech population with the screening methods.
