Abstract

The theme of the short study is an attempt to briefly outline the philosophical issues of popular sovereignty in relation to the system of political parties in the First Czechoslovak Republic. Given the breadth of the whole materia, the study presents the basic thesis that the sovereignty of the people gradually shaped.

Besides, the question of the existence and functioning of the electoral court in the first Czechoslovak Republicis is subject to a brief analysis in connection with the role of political parties outside the constitutional institutions and the ability to deprive the legislator of the mandate, often in spite of the constitutional principle of electoral mandate.
