Abstract

Vitamin D is essential in healthy skeletal development and its lack results in the rachitis (children age) or osteomalacia (in adults). New knowledge are focused on the role of vitamin D in cardiovascular system disorders, insulin secretion and peripheral sensitivity to insulin, obesity and metabolic syndrome.

Indisputable is the role of vitamin D in immunology and intriguing are news about the role of vitamin D in tumour proliferation.
