Trombolysis and endovascular revascularising therapy, hope for the patients with acute stroke

Abstract

We can´t feel satisfied with results of contemporary therapy of acute stroke, for example in comparison with the therapy of myocardial infarction. The discovery of new examination techniques in magnetic resonance (imaging of brain diffusion and perfusion) and in computer tomography (imaging of brain perfusion) enables to diagnose early ischaemic changes of the brain during the first hours after the onset of clinical symptomatology and introduces trombolysis in clinical treatment.

Aforementioned modality is very promising, new techniques are being introduced (for example mechanical trombectomy), but only the overall assessment of these methods in multicentric studies will be crucial for their introduction into regular clinical practise. The purpose of the article is to demonstrate the contemporary status of trombolysis in the therapy of stroke patients
