Abstrakt
The article deals with the semantic role Manner, akin to roles Time, Space, Cause, etc. and, being not required by verbal valency, classified as free adjunct. The article adequately explains various types of expressions, adverbs (sophôs 'wisely'), noun phrases (orgêi 'with fury') and prepositional phrases (met' eunoías 'with friendly consideration'), and less frequent, participial constructions and adverbial subordinated clauses.
