School demonstration experiments with the MX-10 detector

Abstract

Semiconductor detector Medipix/Timepix is unique radiation detection system developed at CERN. Since 2013, the detector labeled MX-10, including software and accessories, has been manufactured and distributed by Czech company.

The paper presents several school physics experiments using this detector, showing a new quality in the display and evaluation of ionizing radiation. The paper also introduces a new school alpha radiation source SZZ ALFA.
