New excavations at Troy and results of other recent investigations on sites down the Westanatolian coast offer now a completely new picture of the Anatolian Grey Ware. The two wares developed independently, with a different set of shapes, but at some point (mainly in MH III) mainland shapes like Lianokladhi goblet do appear on the Westanatolian coast.

However, this influence remains restricted only to the coast and to a couple of generations. Afterwards the Grey Minyan in Greece dies out, but the Anatolian Gray Ware remains in use till the Archaic period.

It will be therefore attempted to state clearly when, where and why there are contacts with the "true" Grey Minyan from the Greek mainland and when, where and why there are not. Likewise, it will be suggested anew to abandon the term Grey Minyan for the finds from Anatolia.
