What connects Japan with the Czech Republic : Slavic studies, incipient multilingualism and language management

Abstract

This paper is a report on Slavic studies, particularly the Slavic Research Center at Hokkaidó University, on the symposium "Multilingualism: Perspectives from Europe and Japan" which took place there in September 2011, and on the interest in language management theory, developed also in the Czech Republic, in Japan.
