Abstract
Conference hosted by the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, and the Institute of History AS CR on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the publication of the one-volume Bible of Kralice. Its goal was to analyze the phenomenon of Czech Bible from the beginnings to the present from an interdisciplinary perspective, focusing mainly on the following thematic areas: Czech Bible as a phenomenon of spiritual and intellectual culture, language of Czech Bible translation and its metamorphoses, Czech biblical illustration in printed and manuscript Bibles, manusc ript and printed Bibles - codicological, paleographical and paleotypographical analysis, Czech Bible in the context of political, social and ideological changes and turns, Czech Bible as an instrument of legitimization and ideology, the reception of Czech Bible in the outer Bohemian Crown lands and abroad, "second life" of Czech Bible in literature and film.
