Abstract
This study reflects upon the story of the stolen ark of the covenant returning to Israel and upon the ineffectiveness of the religious attack on Israel. The purpose of the story is to confront the audience with the incomprehensible manner of the Lord’s independent (autonomous) control of events which, however, is beneficial to Israel in the end.
