Abstract

An analysis of future teachers’ attitudes toward various aspects of giftedness and gifted education is presented in the article. 146 students of education participated in the study and completed the questionnaire Attitudes toward giftedness scale. The results show generally positive attitudes of the students toward gifted education, especially towards curriculum enrichment.

On the other hand, the students stated rather negative attitudes toward specialized programs for the gifted and toward accelerated education. They also perceived negatively the quality of current educational system in regard to the education of gifted.

Further analysis also showed students’ ambiguity towards some aspects of giftedness and an uncertainty towards their capacity to participate in the education of the gifted in their future educational career.
