Abstract

The dominant ways of teaching are still connected with passive transfer of information in today’s school classes. Basic skills using during this kind of teaching are mainly reading, listening and to memorize.

But new requirements are posed on graduates of different types of schools in the 21st century; therefore school teaching must react on changes in a society and be considering more complex then listening, memorizing etc. Just stated comes especially out from The Framework Educational Programme.

The aim of the article is to present a video study and to analyse the activating methods and forms implemented into regular chemistry and biology lessons by eight monitored teachers. The video study was executed by computer program VIP which allows elaborating in detail the obtained recordings on the basis of chosen input data entered into the program by the author.

After defining of the monitored activity into the VIP program, each recording can be analysed partly related to the length of given activity, on the other hand in connection with the number of events or noticed activities carried out during teaching. The results obtained from the VIP program were graphically executed into the ray diagrams and corresponding schemes.

On their basis, monitored lessons can be analysed and the points with the activating method or the organizational form different from the frontal teaching can be found. The results of video study showed that for the activating of the pupil teachers use the most the method of questioning, dialogue and discussion; teachers are more dominant than pupils, process of pupil activating is not followed by reflection of pupil learning, reflection of pupil learning is orientated on fact outputs.

In conclusion the video study revealed activity of teachers is still 259 predominant over pupil activity in the school classes. Teachers consider video analyses provide a good feedback of teachers teaching and it helps to evaluate a school educational process.
