Abstract

The study treats architecture in Benedictine monasteries and the way of their presentation in museum institutions. It observes the changes of installation of architectural elements in France since the 18th century up to the present day.

It reminds the circumstances of the transfer of parts of a French Benedictine monastery church from Saint-Michel de Cuxa and its transformation into the present Cloisters Museum, which forms a part of the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
