Due to rapidly growing support for distant and open-access education in developed countries, a new term "tsunami in education" has been discussed. We can see such trend also in our country, although not so prominent.
Activities in development of wiki lectures - WikiSkripta is one of possible examples. The WikiSkripta is a community based project developed by medical students and their teachers.
It concentrates the endeavor, which was dispersed until now. Its aim is to improve the quality of educational materials, such as spontaneously created notes from lectures or handouts for specific examination questions.
The Web 2.0 technologies facilitate effective collaboration of a large number of authors, who contribute to mutual work from different locations in different time. This approach also promotes creation and further collaboration within the community consisting of individuals with similar interests, who are deeply involved in the project.
The project is the most visited Czech educational portal for study in medicine, having a million of unique visits per month.
