Thaddaeus Hagecius

Abstract

Martin Bachacek, astronomer, mathematician and professor, is credited with the development of the University of Prague. Several times he was elected its rector.

He maintained close contacts with leading European scholars (Tycho Brahe, Johannes Kepler, Jan Jessenius). As a moderate Utraquist featured in the struggle for freedom of religion and the reform of the university in the early 17th century.

His most famous work Ephemerides are not preserved.
